2.6k local COVID-19 cases identified

July 11, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 2,611 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 1,066 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 1,545 via rapid antigen tests that were verified.

Separately, 252 imported cases were reported.

The centre added that one elderly care home has identified a new COVID-19 case involving a resident.

It also received notifications of 627 positive cases from 454 schools.

Meanwhile, the Government made a restriction-testing declaration to cover Tak Yee House of Tak Tin Estate in Kwun Tong, requiring people in the restricted area to undergo compulsory testing before the specified deadline.

Separately, due to a number of positive cases, 66 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice. It also covers another five premises in Sai Ying Pun, Tseung Kwan O, Ap Lei Chau, Sheung Shui and Ma On Shan where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

People subject to compulsory testing may receive free testing at community testing centres or mobile specimen collection stations.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several residential estates and buildings in Kowloon City, Southern and Tai Po districts, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
