Sun Dong visits Productivity Council

Secretary for Innovation, Technology & Industry Prof Sun Dong today visited the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) to keep abreast of its latest work.
Prof Sun met the management team of the HKPC, then visited the "Made in HK" Theme Hall to ascertain the work of the council on promoting re-industrialisation in Hong Kong and observed a smart production line using automation technology.
He also visited the Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre managed by the HKPC.
The centre coordinates the computer security incident response for local enterprises and internet users. It collaborates with local bodies and computer emergency response team coordination centres of other regions to collect and disseminate information on security incidents.
The centre also advises on preventive measures, incident response and recovery actions against security threats, as well as promotes information security awareness among enterprises and internet users.
During a tour of the Green Hall, the Joint Research Lab for Applications of Intelligent Automation Technology and the Automotive Platforms and Application Systems R&D Centre, he was briefed on green technology projects and observed projects on artificial intelligence and robotics as well as automotive technology.
The innovation and technology chief acknowledged HKPC's efforts in promoting the re-industrialisation in Hong Kong, assisting enterprises to switch to high value-added production and gradually upgrade to Industry 4.0.
He hoped the council could continue to enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong's manufacturing industry with innovation and technology, fostering diversification of the city’s economic development.
