The Chief Executive has approved the re-appointment of Laura Cha as Chairman of the Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Limited (HKEX) with immediate effect.

Mrs Cha was elected HKEX Chairman by the directors at the board meeting on April 27. The Chief Executive granted approval under the Securities & Futures Ordinance.

The Government is confident that with Mrs Cha’s leadership, the HKEX will strive to further enhance market quality and competitiveness, and consolidate Hong Kong’s status as a global premier fundraising platform and risk management centre.

Mrs Cha’s chairmanship will coincide with her term of appointment as an HKEX board member to conclude at the end of the 2024 HKEX annual general meeting.
