Legal cloud services launched
The Department of Justice today announced the launch of the Hong Kong Legal Cloud services, a user-friendly online facility to provide safe, secure and affordable data storage for the local legal and dispute resolution sectors.
With the services to be provided by a non-profit making organisation, the initiative aims to enhance the capability of the profession to harness modern technology in the provision of relevant services.
The department has set up the Hong Kong Legal Cloud Fund to subsidise eligible local legal and dispute resolution professionals for free subscription to the legal cloud services for up to three years.
The fund, administered by the Asian Academy of International Law on a pro bono basis, will finance the setup cost and initial operational and promotion costs through the disbursement of the subscription fees incurred by eligible subscribers to the service provider.
Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng noted that the department is tasked with the active promotion of the Hong Kong Legal Cloud as set out in the 2020 Policy Address.
