5 imported COVID-19 cases detected
The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating five additional imported COVID-19 cases involving two men and three women who flew in from the UK and the Philippines which are high-risk places.
While the viral load of one case is insufficient for a mutation test, two cases are linked to the N501Y mutant strain, and the other two are linked to the L452R one.
Two patients tested positive upon arrival at the airport and two tested positive during quarantine. The remaining patient’s test result was indeterminate during quarantine, but was later confirmed positive after admission to hospital.
A total of 59 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.
