Govt to impose tighter arrival rules
The Government today announced that in view of the detection of Omicron cases, Cyprus, Jordan and Lebanon will be categorised as Group A specified places from next Tuesday.
Non-Hong Kong residents who have stayed in these places within 21 days will not be allowed to enter the city, the Government elaborated.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong residents who have stayed in these places within 21 days can only board a flight for Hong Kong if they have been fully vaccinated and hold a recognised jab record.
Upon arrival, they must undergo a 21-day compulsory quarantine in a designated quarantine hotel, during which six virus tests have to be conducted. On the 26th day of arrival at Hong Kong, they must also take another compulsory test in a community testing centre.
The Government will gazette the updated specifications under the Prevention & Control of Disease (Regulation of Cross-boundary Conveyances & Travellers) Regulation to effect the measures.
Separately, the Government noted it is ascertaining the details of the imported Omicron cases detected in Taiwan, and will closely monitor the epidemic situation there to consider whether relevant boarding, quarantine and testing requirements should be further tightened.
