The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating one additional imported COVID-19 case involving a 30-year-old woman who arrived from Indonesia.

The patient, a foreign domestic helper, arrived in Hong Kong on September 17 on flight CX798. The virus test taken upon arrival as well as the six tests conducted during the compulsory quarantine period at a designated quarantine facility were all negative for COVID-19.

She received two doses of the Sinovac vaccine on July 9 and August 11 in Indonesia.

Upon completion of the compulsory quarantine on October 7, she returned to her employer’s residence at Tower 10, Phase 3, the Graces, Providence Bay in Tai Po. Symptoms developed the next day.

Another test on October 12 yielded a positive result but with a low viral load, while the test result after admission to hospital was indeterminate. An epidemiological investigation is underway.

As a prudent measure, the places where the patient resided and visited in Hong Kong during the incubation period have been included in a compulsory testing notice, the centre noted.

Regarding the local case with an unknown infection source reported on October 8, since an environmental sample collected at a restroom on the Mezzanine Floor, Main Building, SuperTerminal 1 at the airport tested positive for COVID-19, another compulsory testing notice has been issued, requiring relevant people to undergo additional testing. Those who have completed a COVID-19 vaccination course will not be exempted.

A total of 61 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, one of which is a local case with an unknown infection source and the rest are imported.
