The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating nine additional COVID-19 cases, of which six are locally transmitted.

Among the local cases, one has an unknown source of infection.

The centre's Communicable Disease Branch Head Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan told a press briefing that the unlinked case involves a 69-year-old security guard who works at Hung Fook House in Sham Shui Po.

"Concerning the local case with source of infection not yet identified, because he works alone, we are checking whether there are other colleagues who would share the same room because they usually have a workplace.

"If they share the same room in different shifts, we will quarantine the other security guards as well. This is our usual practice."

Of the five cases epidemiologically linked with previous ones, one works in the K11 MUSEA branch of Cartier. Two cases have been confirmed at the shop so far.

Dr Chuang said: "We cannot conclude whether patients of the two cases who work in Cartier in K11 MUSEA are really linked to those of the Mr Ming's Chinese Dining restaurant cluster yet.

"From the investigation, we found they had no contact with them. But of course they are in the same mall, they may have met each other in the hallway, on the way to work, when going out or even in the toilet. So it is difficult to conclude.

"We may wait for more genetic sequencing and other information to help."

Three of the 48 environmental samples taken from the mall earlier by the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department have tested positive for COVID-19, Dr Chuang added.

Additionally, six places are now covered by compulsory testing notices, including K11 MUSEA where a number of infections were found within a short period of time and the incubation period of the virus could be long.

People who had been at these premises during specified periods have to undergo testing.

The Government will set up mobile specimen collection stations at Elegance Gardens in Tuen Mun and K11 MUSEA in Tsim Sha Tsui on March 5 and the service period of some mobile stations will be extended.
