23 specimen collection points added
The Government announced that it will set up 23 additional specimen collection points in government premises in various districts from tomorrow.
The decision was made to enable people who perceive themselves as having a higher risk of exposure or experience mild discomfort to undergo free COVID-19 testing and to further facilitate the public to submit deep throat saliva specimens.
Including the 60 existing specimen collection points, there will be a total of 83 collection points across the city.
The 23 new specimen collection points will operate from 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 3pm on Monday to Friday, and 9am to 11am on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
They will not distribute deep throat saliva specimen collection packs. People who wish to obtain the collection packs can visit the Hospital Authority’s 47 general out-patient clinics, 121 post offices or vending machines set up at 20 MTR stations.
People who have a negative test result will receive an SMS notification within three days after submitting the specimen, while those whose test results are positive will be followed up by the Department of Health immediately.
The Government urged all individuals who are in doubt about their own health condition or with exposure to infection risk to undergo testing promptly.
