The Centre for Health Protection today said it is having difficulty locating foreign domestic helpers who had stayed in a boarding house with a patient confirmed to have COVID-19.

The Centre’s Communicable Disease Branch Head Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan made the statement at a press briefing this afternoon.

Dr Chuang said the centre sought help from Police to gain access to the boarding house in Cheung Hing Mansion in Mong Kok based on information from the Indonesian domestic helper, who was confirmed to have the virus on August 11.

“Police visited the place but could not gain entry. The person in charge is not very co-operative, so we could not locate those domestic helpers who had stayed with the patient of case number 4159 during that period at the end of July.

“We are worried that they may have contracted the disease and spread it in the community.”

Dr Chuang called on employers whose domestic helpers may have stayed in the boarding house to arrange a check-up for them.

The centre also announced it is investigating 62 additional COVID-19 cases, of which 61 are locally infected and one is imported.

Of the local cases, 33 are related to previous ones and 28 are those with unknown sources of infection.
