The Home Affairs Department will launch a programme to test public housing estate residents in Tsz Wan Shan for COVID-19 given the relatively severe epidemic situation there.
Speaking at a press conference today, Secretary for Home Affairs Caspar Tsui said the department aims to have some of the supplies ready for the programme in the next few days.
Mr Tsui pointed out that Wong Tai Sin District Office staff members will explain the logistics of the programme to residents there.
“We hope to complete the testing in the Tsz Wan Shan community within two weeks.”
He added that this would cover about 40,000 residents.
Understanding that many residents there are very worried about the situation, the Chief Executive has instructed the department to co-ordinate the testing arrangement with the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals for households in Tsz Ching Estate, Tsz Lok Estate, Tsz Man Estate, Tsz Hong Estate and Choi Fai Estate.
The department will first distribute specimen bottles tomorrow at two buildings in Tsz Ching Estate and plans to collect the samples the following day for testing.
