Director of Home Affairs Janice Tse officated at the opening ceremony for the North Point Community Hall in Eastern District today.

The hall will begin services on September 1 as a venue for the public to participate in community activities.

Located at 123 Java Road, the site is equipped with a 450 seat capacity multi-purpose hall, a stage, a conference room and dressing rooms.

It also has barrier-free access for those with physical disabilities.

Noting that Eastern District is a rapidly growing community with a population of more than 500,000, Miss Tse stressed there is a strong demand for community facilities.

The North Point Community Hall will enrich the district's cultural, recreational and community services, which can strengthen social cohesion, she added.
