Acting Secretary for Home Affairs Jack Chan today attended an opening ceremony at Silvermine Bay Beach to mark the completion of improvement works there.

New beach buildings and facilities, including a barbeque pit area, a sitting-out area and a viewing deck, were constructed for the project.

Mr Chan said Silvermine Bay Beach is a well-known tourist spot in Mui Wo. He thanked the Islands District Council, Islands District Office, the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, the Mui Wo Rural Committee and the local community for their support and collaboration.

The improvement works also achieved synergy with another project to enhance the facilities and environment to boost Mui Wo’s attractiveness.

The Government has earmarked $100 million for each District Council to implement signature projects upon its endorsement to better respond to local needs.
