Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Rosanna Law today congratulated veteran actress Michelle Yeoh and acclaimed director Ann Hui on their recognition at the 31st Busan International Film Festival. Ms Yeoh was awarded the Asian Filmmaker of the Year, while Ms Hui received the Camellia Award.

The Asian Filmmaker of the Year award honours individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of Asian film culture and industry. The Camellia Award recognises filmmakers who have significantly advanced the roles of women in Asian cinema.

Miss Law said that both filmmakers have exerted a profound and enduring influence on both the local and international film landscapes. She praised their remarkable contributions to Hong Kong cinema over their decades-long careers, which have played a pivotal role in elevating the city’s film industry to the global stage.
