Kai Tak Hospital to open in phases
The Hospital Authority (HA) announced today that Kai Tak Hospital (KTH) will commence services in phases from October 5, starting with the opening of the Family Medicine Integrated Centre. Patients can begin booking appointments this coming Sunday.
KTH will roll out services in two phases. The Specialist Out-patient Clinic Block and the Oncology Block are scheduled to open during the first phase.
Located on the first floor of the Specialist Out-patient Clinic Block, the Family Medicine Integrated Centre will initially provide around 250 family medicine clinic quotas per day. Patients with episodic illnesses can make appointments via the "Book Family Medicine Clinic" function on the “HA Go” mobile application or through the telephone booking system starting from the morning of October 4.
Specialist out-patient services of the Departments of Medicine, Surgery, Neurosurgery and Clinical Oncology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital will transfer to the new block in batches starting from late October. Allied health services, pharmacy services, pathology, diagnostic and interventional radiology examinations, and the Patient Resource Centre will also roll out gradually in October, alongside day services for clinical oncology and obstetrics and gynaecology.
Major clinical services, including in-patient, surgical and accident and emergency services, will commence in the second phase in 2028. Clinical services for remaining specialties, including orthopaedics and traumatology, obstetrics and gynaecology, and paediatrics, will relocate to KTH once in-patient services begin.
As the largest public hospital in Hong Kong and the flagship facility of the Kowloon Central Cluster, KTH features a total gross area of approximately 500,000 sq m and provides 2,400 beds. It will serve a population of 1.8 million across Yau Tsim Mong, Kowloon City, Wong Tai Sin and Kwun Tong districts.
