Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Rosanna Law today congratulated swimmer Siobhan Haughey on winning another gold medal – in the Women's 100m Freestyle – for the Hong Kong, China Delegation at the 20th Asian Games.

Miss Law also congratulated fencer Ryan Choi on winning a silver medal in the Men's Foil Individual event, wushu athlete Lau Chi-lung on his silver medal in the Men's Nanquan & Nangun, and cyclist Leung Wing-yee on her bronze medal in the Women's Road Race.

Miss Law said Ms Haughey had lived up to expectations at the Games and pulled off a remarkable achievement, today's medal coming after she won gold in the Women's 200m Freestyle yesterday.

The sports chief also commended Mr Choi on his outstanding performance, remarking that he demonstrated excellent technique and personal style to achieve a breakthrough result.

She added: “Stepping onto the Asian Games podium for the first time, Lau Chi-lung won a silver medal with his superb performance. Leung Wing-yee showed perseverance and gave her all to successfully secure a bronze medal.” 

The Hong Kong team has so far won twelve medals at the Asian Games: three gold, five silver and four bronze.
