The Education Bureau today released the Private School List, which features 91 private schools offering formal primary and secondary curricula for parents' reference.

The bureau noted that the Code of Practice for Private Schools was released at the beginning of this year. This followed enhancement measures introduced in the 2025 Policy Address to provide clear operation and management standards for the sector.

Private schools were subsequently invited to join the list to promote diversified educational development, strengthen sector governance and build a high-quality education brand for Hong Kong.

Participation in the list is voluntary, reflecting a balance between regulating school governance and supporting school-led operations. The bureau aims to establish clear operation standards, encourage healthy competition, enhance educational standards and demonstrate the schools' commitment to compliant operations.

Schools on the list were evaluated and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Private Schools, with recommendations accepted by the bureau. All listed schools meet designated standards in key areas. These include legislative compliance, good governance and safeguarding the rights of stakeholders.

The bureau stressed that all schools operating in Hong Kong must comply with the Education Ordinance and the Education Regulations, regardless of whether they are included on the list. Schools not included remain subject to the bureau’s regulatory oversight.

Parents are reminded that the list serves as a reference only. They should conduct comprehensive assessments, look into schools' operations, financial stability, enrolment performance and long-term development plans, and communicate directly with the schools to make informed decisions when choosing a school.
