The Buildings Department approved 13 building plans in May – three on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

Of the approved plans, four were for apartment or apartment/commercial developments, three were for factory and industrial developments, and six were for community services developments.

Consent was given for works to start on eight building projects. Upon completion, they will provide 121,273 sq m of domestic gross floor area involving 2,060 units, and 9,366 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use.

Additionally, the department received notifications of commencement of superstructure works for 10 building projects.

It also issued 14 occupation permits –five on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and six in the New Territories during the same month.

The buildings certified for occupation comprise 43,301 sq m of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 809 units; and 78,814 sq m was for non-domestic use.

Meanwhile, the department received 2,362 reports about unauthorised building works in May, issued 385 removal orders, and gave two demolition consents.
