Govt saddened by site accident
The Architectural Services Department is deeply saddened by the passing of a contractor's staff member at a refurbishment works site at the Kowloon Bay Sports Ground today, and extended its condolences to the deceased worker's family.
At about 9am this morning, a 65-year-old male worker is suspected to have been struck by and pulled underneath an operating road roller. He was certified dead at the scene.
Following the incident, departmental representatives went to the works site to learn about the situation and requested that the contractor provide appropriate assistance to the worker's family.
The refurbishment works are now fully suspended. The department has instructed the contractor to carry out a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident. It will also render full assistance to relevant departments in their investigations.
