LegCo poll to go ahead as planned

December 2, 2025

Chief Executive John Lee today announced that the 2025 Legislative Council General Election will be held as scheduled for December 7, and the eight remaining election forums that were suspended immediately following the Tai Po blaze will resume.

Those eight functional constituency forums will take place on December 3 and 4, with four held each day.

They will be adjusted to allow time for candidates to express their opinions on the supporting work for affected residents and post-disaster recovery.

In view of the fire in Tai Po, the Registration & Electoral Office will make new arrangements for three polling stations in the district which will mainly affect voters at Wang Fuk Court, Kwong Fuk Estate, Tai Po Kau and Tai Po Hui.

In light of the latest blaze situation, the Government will not hold the Election Fun Day on December 6. Only informative activities such as the roving exhibition to be held at Plaza Hollywood in Diamond Hill will be kept. Other carnivals, fun days as well as a variety show will be cancelled.

The free admission to facilities and offers arranged by government departments for all members of the public on December 6 and 7 will continue.

In addition, voters will be presented with a thank-you card from the Government as planned.
