Director of Drainage Services Ringo Mok expressed sorrow over the passing of a contractor's employee in an accident yesterday at the construction site of the Provision of Village Sewerage in Wo Mei, Sai Kung.

Mr Mok extended his condolences to the family members of the deceased and requested the contractor to provide them with appropriate assistance.

At about 10am yesterday, the worker was found unconscious while installing mechanical and electrical equipment at level B1. He was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital and certified dead at about 8pm.

The Drainage Services Department requested the contractor and its sub-contractor to suspend the related works and conduct a safety check. The contractor was also instructed to carry out a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the department will render full assistance to relevant departments in their investigations.
