CE welcomes motion of thanks
Chief Executive John Lee today expressed his gratitude to the Legislative Council for passing a motion of thanks in respect of his 2025 Policy Address.
Mr Lee said the Policy Address, titled “Deepening Reforms for Our People & Leveraging Our Strengths for a Brighter Future”, outlined short, medium and long-term policies while plotting a course for diverse development through further reforms and planning.
“The Policy Address is anchored in two pillars – the economy and people’s livelihood.”
Mr Lee added that by developing the economy through reforms, Hong Kong will generate wealth and resources, and the Government will provide additional services and infrastructure that will achieve his ultimate objective in governance, that of improving livelihoods.
“This Policy Address combines government planning with public insight, forming a strategic plan for shaping Hong Kong's future together.”
The Chief Executive thanked LegCo members for offering their views on various measures contained in the Policy Address during a debate on the motion of thanks held over three consecutive days.
The legislators’ discussions covered aspects such as deepening reforms, implementing the “one country, two systems” principle steadfastly and successfully, strengthening governance systems, advancing the development of the Greater Bay Area, accelerating that of the Northern Metropolis, promoting industrial development and reform, integrating into the overall national development, consolidating Hong Kong’s status as an international hub, promoting the integrated development of education, technology, and talent, and enhancing measures with respect to housing, labour, healthcare, and social welfare.
Mr Lee said the Government will analyse and study their views to ensure the effective implementation of relevant measures for the further benefit of the public.
“My team and I will continue to maintain rational and constructive interaction, as well as close communication and collaboration with the LegCo.
“Under the principles of an executive-led system and ‘patriots administering Hong Kong’, the executive authorities and the legislature will jointly promote the vision of the Policy Address, leading society in deepening reforms for our people and leveraging our strengths for a brighter future.”
