Light housing contracts awarded
The Housing Bureau announced today that it has awarded two operation and management contracts for the Light Public Housing (LPH) projects at tender sums of about $86 million and $123 million respectively.
One of the contracts, awarded to Chevalier Property Management Ltd and Sik Yuen Joint Venture, covers four LPH projects converted from school premises that are scheduled to be completed for intake in two phases.
The first phase will provide 130 units at Shun On Road and 110 units at Choi Yuen Road, and are expected for completion in the fourth quarter of this year.
The second phase that will provide 110 and 105 units at Shun Lee Tsuen Road and Chuk Yuen Road respectively are expected for completion in the first quarter of 2027.
The other contract covers the project at Sheung On Street, which will provide about 1,720 units and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of next year.
Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho said that while the four school premises for conversion in one of the contracts are located in different areas, with the synergy through engagement of a single operating organisation for the overall operation, resources can be shared to enhance cost-effectiveness.
As for the second contract covering the project at Sheung On Street in Chai Wan, Ms Ho noted that it is the only LPH on Hong Kong Island.
“I expect that our residents and the neighbourhood will benefit from the high-quality property management service and targeted social services.
“With this in mind, I appeal to organisations interested in operating LPH projects to actively participate in the tenders, and work with the Government to improve the living environment of grassroots citizens.”
Unlike general property management contracts, the requirements for LPH's operation and management services not only cover occupant, property management and daily maintenance, but also a range of social services, as well as the management and operation of ancillary facilities.
