Health voucher advert clarified

June 14, 2024

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Government today clarified that some advertisements by a Shenzhen dental organisation, claiming to distribute in Hong Kong a limited number of Hong Kong elderly healthcare vouchers, are unrelated to its Elderly Health Care Voucher.

The Hong Kong SAR Government advised the public to stay vigilant about such advertisements in newspapers and on social media platforms, and stressed that the Shenzhen dental organisation is not a listed medical institution under the Elderly Health Care Voucher Greater Bay Area Pilot Scheme.

It added that the advertisement attempted to confuse and deceptively use the term “health care vouchers” to attract customers, despite being unrelated to the Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme (EHVS).

The Hong Kong SAR Government has notified the relevant Mainland regulatory department and newspapers of the issue, while the Department of Health has contacted Police for follow-up.

The Health Bureau had announced in February, the list of medical institutions under the Elderly Health Care Voucher Greater Bay Area Pilot Scheme.

The institutions include: the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou; Nansha Division of the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University in Nansha; ZhongShan Chenxinghai Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese & Western Medicine in Zhongshan; Dongguan Tungwah Hospital in Dongguan; Shenzhen New Frontier United Family Hospital, Shenzhen C.K.J Stomatological Hospital in Luohu District, Dental Bauhinia Specialty Service Center (Shenzhen)/Dental Bauhinia General Care Center (Shenzhen) in Futian District in Shenzhen.
