Choi Yuk-lin to visit Beijing

Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin will lead a delegation of Hong Kong higher education institutions to visit Beijing for three days starting tomorrow.

 

Apart from calling on the State Council’s Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science & Technology, the delegation will visit an institution and an enterprise related to scientific research, and conduct exchange activities at a local university.

 

Members of the delegation include Permanent Secretary for Education Michelle Li, the University Grants Committee (UGC) Chairman Tim Lui, the Research Grants Council Chairman Prof Timothy Tong, and the Committee on Self-financing Post-secondary Education Chairman Alex Chan.

 

Other members are presidents or representatives of eight UGC-funded universities, 13 degree-awarding self-financing post-secondary institutions and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

 

Before returning to Hong Kong, Ms Choi will attend the closing ceremony of a Mainland study tour for Hong Kong's promoted teachers on May11 at the National Academy of Education Administration.

 

During her absence, Under Secretary for Education Sze Chun-fai will be Acting Secretary.
