Airport Authority chairman appointed

The Government today announced that Fred Lam has been appointed as chairman of the Airport Authority.
 

The Government also appointed three new members – Dorothy Chan, Ann Kung Yeung and Perry Yiu – to the authority’s board, and reappointed two serving members, Sabrina Chao and Edwin Tong.
 

The appointments are for a term of three years and will start from June 1.
 

Jack So has served as the authority’s chairman since 2015. Secretary for Transport & Logistics Lam Sai-hung expressed his gratitude to Mr So for his contribution in leading the authority over the past nine years and commended him for his unwavering commitment.
 

Mr Lam highlighted that Mr So played a pivotal role in major areas such as the planning and construction of the three-runway system, the development of Airport City, the expansion of intermodal transport networks and the enhancement of air services.
 

During Mr So’s tenure, Hong Kong International Airport won widespread recognition and maintained its status as a world leader in both passenger and cargo transport.
 

Mr Lam also extended a warm welcome to Fred Lam on his appointment as chairman. Mr Lam has been the authority’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) since 2014. He has also been appointed to various government advisory and statutory bodies, and has extensive experience in public services.
 

The transport chief said he is looking forward to working closely with Fred Lam to press ahead with the airport’s long-term development and enhance Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub.
