The Education Bureau today called on schools and the public to stay vigilant against a bogus phone call from a person claiming to be a staff member of the bureau.

The bureau has received multiple reports of schools receiving a phone call from a person claiming to be one of its staff members, saying the Under Secretary will inspect the school and requesting them to make arrangements and provide a mobile phone number for liaison.

The case has been reported to Police.

People are advised to stay alert to suspicious phone calls and not disclose personal information. Anyone who believes they have been scammed should contact Police immediately.

If schools have enquiries, they may call the bureau's respective District School Development Section.
