Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs Alice Mak will lead a delegation of 18 District Officers (DOs) to Beijing and Zhejiang Province tomorrow for a study programme and to learn more about district governance on the Mainland.

Under the improved district governance system, DOs are also District Council Chairmen, shouldering the important responsibility of enhancing district governance.

The study programme is intended to enable them to gain a more in-depth understanding of national policies and developments, and to learn about the Mainland’s district governance for reference in their future work.

Led by Miss Mak, the delegation will undertake the study programme at the National Academy of Governance upon arrival in Beijing.

Members will then proceed to Zhejiang Province on April 19 to learn about local experience of district governance there.

The delegation will return to Hong Kong on April 21. During Miss Mak’s absence, Under Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs Clarence Leung will be Acting Secretary.
