Local artists to hold recitals

March 26, 2024

A new “Hong Kong Artists” Series will be held from May to November, with six distinguished local musicians performing four recitals, featuring music for the flute bassoon, piano and huqin.

Announcing the launch of the series, the Leisure & Cultural Services Department said the series aims to provide a new platform for local artists to showcase their remarkable talents.

In addition to solo performances, the department will also use the series to foster cross-genre collaborations.

In May, flautist Alice Hui and bassoonist Tommy Liu will jointly perform a number of compositions spanning from the Romantic era to the 20th Century, giving their audience a broad sample of woodwind chamber music.

In July, veteran pianist Hui Ling will demonstrate her interpretations of pieces by well-known composers from the 18th to the 20th Century.

Huqin performer Mak Ka-yin will present a repertoire in August of huqin works from different eras, guiding the audience to a holistic appreciation of the two-stringed musical instrument.

In November, pianists Stephen Wong and Amy Sze will demonstrate their remarkable skills and partnership in a recital showcasing classic two-piano compositions.

Tickets for the recitals, which will be held at City Hall, will be available from URBTIX. Package discounts are available.
