Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho today visited Huizhou to inspect the production of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) modules for Light Public Housing (LPH).
 

In the morning, Ms Ho visited CSCEC Science & Industry Greentech Corporation Ltd to learn about the smart and automated manufacturing processes involved in producing the modules.
 

She expressed appreciation of the project team’s efforts to support LPH housing works by investing a large amount of manpower and resources, and applying advanced management and construction technologies.
 

The team is exploring how to optimise applications of technologies such as Multi-trade Integrated Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing and MiC Lift, with the target of developing Hong Kong’s first Steel “Full MiC” high-rise construction project.
 

The corporation has been commissioned to produce about 9,300 MiC modules for several LPH projects, with the first batch of modules expected to arrive in the city next month at the earliest.
 

Noting that construction work for the first four LPH projects has is progressing at full speed, the housing chief said intake for the Yau Pok Road project is tentatively scheduled for the first quarter of next year.
 

She thanked the construction team for their hard work and encouraged them to deploy the best talent and most advanced construction technologies to expedite the construction of housing to improving the living conditions of people living in inadequate accommodation.
 

In the afternoon, Ms Ho visited the factory of Hong Kong enterprise Yau Lee Wah Construction Materials (Huizhou) Company Ltd to learn about the innovative technologies and smart equipment adopted by Hong Kong contractors in manufacturing MiC modules.
 

The factory has supplied over 90,000 units of precast elements, including MiC modules, for Housing Authority public housing projects in locations including Tung Chung and Anderson Road.
