3 LNY lantern carnivals start

Festive celebration:

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department presents colourful lanterns at Hong Kong Velodrome Park.

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department announced that it is holding three Lunar New Year Lantern Carnivals from today to February 25. 

 

The carnivals at the Cultural Centre Piazza, Hong Kong Velodrome Park, Tin Shui Wai Park and Ginza Square, feature colourful lantern displays of various themes and a series of activities and performances. Admission is free.

 

The specially themed lanterns at the three venues will be illuminated from 6pm to 11pm daily during the period, while there will also be Gala Nights on designated dates, where members of the public can enjoy ethnic dance and acrobatics by the Hubei Provincial Performing Arts Group as well as other music and dance performances.

 

The Radio Television Hong Kong Pop Up truck will also be turned into a Pop Up Live mobile studio to celebrate the festival with audiences.

 

On February 23, there will be a Youth Night at the Cultural Centre Piazza, where people can enjoy dance, Chinese music, pop music and band sounds performed by young local artists and district organisations.
