Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung today visited the Home Affairs Department to learn about its work and the challenges it faces.

 

Mrs Yeung first met directorate staff who updated her on the department’s work in promoting district governance.

 

She also exchanged views with staff representatives from various grades.

 

The civil service chief visited the divisions responsible for supporting and overseeing the District Services & Community Care Teams, supporting building management, and promoting social enterprises.

 

She received a briefing by frontline staff on their work in co-ordinating with the 452 care teams in various districts to strengthen the support for community work and networks.

 

Mrs Yeung also inspected the offices of the Wan Chai District Council (DC) Secretariat, the Community Affairs Section and the District Management & Administration Section, to get an idea of their work in co-organising community activities and liaison with the DCs.

 

She concluded her visit at the Wan Chai Home Affairs Enquiry Centre which provides general enquiry and free oath or affirmation services for the public.
