HKeToll to be fully implemented
With the Aberdeen Tunnel set to adopt HKeToll for toll payments starting from 5am on December 24, all government toll tunnels will be covered by the new collection system, the Transport Department said today.
HKeToll allows motorists to drive through the toll plaza and pay tunnel tolls using toll tags without having to stop or queue at toll booths.
To facilitate implementation of the service at the Aberdeen Tunnel, temporary traffic arrangements will be in force on December 24, in phases starting from 1am.
Both directions of the tunnel and its slip roads will be closed from 4am to 5am. During the closures, overnight franchised bus routes N72, N90, N170 and N171 will be diverted via Nam Fung Road, Deep Water Bay Road, Wong Nai Chung Gap Road and the vicinity of Happy Valley. At the same time, three Hong Kong Island overnight green minibus routes – N4A, N4C and N40 minibuses will be diverted via Nam Fung Road, Deep Water Bay Road, Wong Nai Chung Gap Road and Stubbs Road.
Separately, the Transport Department said that starting 5am on December 24, Government Tunnel Toll Tickets will no longer be accepted. Holders of toll tickets may apply for refunds at eight refund centres located at carparks in Central, Shau Kei Wan, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin, Kwai Fong, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin until June 30 next year. Applicants should fill in the application form in advance and bring along their toll tickets.
Those applying for refunds for a large quantity of toll tickets are advised to email the contractor or call 2830 3814 for assistance.
