Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of International Economic Affairs Director-General Li Kexin delivers a talk on the Belt & Road Initiative to Hong Kong civil servants.

The Civil Service College today held a talk on “The high-quality development of the Belt & Road Initiative & policy recommendations for Hong Kong’s participation in the initiative”.

Delivered by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of International Economic Affairs Director-General Li Kexin, the lecture formed part of an ongoing series of talks on foreign affairs subjects. It was jointly organised by the Civil Service College and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

About 100 senior officials and civil servants from the directorate and senior ranks attended the lecture.

Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung said the lecture would undoubtedly help civil servants acquire an accurate understanding of Hong Kong’s significant role in the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI), enabling them to better support the Hong Kong SAR Government in proactively integrating into the country’s overall development and supporting the BRI’s development.

As an international financial centre, she added, Hong Kong is able to leverages its comprehensive professional services and the unique advantage of its common law system to expand co-operation with Belt & Road partners in areas such as trade and the economy, infrastructure development, innovation and technology.
