Police’s National Security Department today laid charges against a 26-year-old man with one count of doing an act or acts with seditious intention and one count of possessing seditious publications.

The man is also charged with one count of possessing a Hong Kong identity card related to another person.

The case is being mentioned at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts this afternoon.

On Monday, Police received a report that a man was allegedly wearing a shirt with seditious wordings at Hong Kong International Airport. Officers went to the scene and seized some flags and clothing with seditious wording on it as well as another person's ID card from the man’s personal belongings.

After investigation, the man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an identity card relating to another, and doing an act or acts with seditious intention, contravening Section 9 and 10 of the Crimes Ordinance.

Police reminded citizens that doing an act or acts with seditious intention is a serious crime, liable to imprisonment for two years on first conviction. Members of the public are urged not to defy the law.
