FS attends APEC meeting

Financial Secretary Paul Chan attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Finance Ministers' Meeting in San Francisco, the United States, yesterday.

 

In various sessions and forums, ministers discussed issues relating to the global economy and future development trends.

               

Topics on the agenda included ways to accelerate the development of green and sustainable finance, including voluntary carbon markets, and the development of digital assets.

 

Mr Chan briefed the meeting on Hong Kong’s current economic and financial situation, as well as the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s drive to create new impetus for economic development by nurturing new industries.

 

He highlighted that Hong Kong has made great strides to attract enterprises and talent engaged in developing artificial intelligence and data science.

 

Mr Chan also met Philippine Secretary of Finance Benjamin Diokno for an exchange of views on economic and social developments.

 

He later had dinner with Hong Kong residents living in San Francisco to better understand their working and living situations, and their business or career development in the United States.
