CE lauds HK's Para Games athletes

Chief Executive John Lee today officiated at a welcome home reception for the Hong Kong, China delegation following their triumphant showing at the recent 4th Asian Para Games Hangzhou.

 

He also presented certificates of commendation to the Hong Kong athletes in recognition of their efforts in the games.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Lee said the delegation had achieved outstanding results, and that this was testimony to the hard work undertaken by the athletes and their support teams.

 

He added that their achievements reflected that the Government is on the right track in terms of allocating resources for sports development and in providing additional resources for the development of sports for persons with disabilities.

 

A total of 95 Hong Kong athletes participated in 11 events at the games, which were held in Hangzhou between October 22 and 28.

 

The Hong Kong delegation took home a total of 47 medals, comprising 8 golds, 15 silvers and 24 bronzes. They ranked 10th out of 33 medal-winning countries or regions.
