R&D scheme open to applications

November 13, 2023

The Innovation & Technology Commission is inviting applications to the 2023-24 Guangdong-Hong Kong Technology Cooperation Funding Scheme until January 12.

The commission explained that the scheme enables diverse and high-quality research and development (R&D) projects to be undertaken in Guangdong and Hong Kong, thereby advancing R&D collaboration in the Greater Bay Area and facilitating the development of Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub.

There are three categories of projects under the scheme.

The first covers projects funded by the Innovation & Technology Fund, while the second involves those funded by relevant Mainland authorities.

The third category refers to projects jointly funded by the Guangdong and Hong Kong governments or the Shenzhen and Hong Kong governments.

As at the end of August, 379 projects had been approved under the scheme, involving total funding of over $1 billion.
