Youth devt meeting held
Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki today chaired the 14th meeting of the Youth Development Commission (YDC), during which the Government briefed its members on initiatives relating to youth development in the 2023 Policy Address.
Committee members said they were pleased that the Policy Address has proposed measures to broaden youngsters’ horizons, support youth innovation and entrepreneurship, and strengthen youth engagement to nurture a new generation of young people with an affection for the country and Hong Kong, and equipped with a global perspective and positive thinking.
Apart from stressing that it will continue to push forward the implementation of more than 160 actions and measures in the Youth Development Blueprint, the Government said it also plans to organise the Youth Development Summit in mid-2024.
The summit will be the opening and highlight of the Youth Festival where the Government will invite the participation of guest speakers and youth groups from the Mainland and overseas.
The Home & Youth Affairs Bureau, which launched Youth Link in September, will study the possibility of utilising suitable facilities to provide the participants of the youth network with a platform for constant interaction to strengthen youth engagement.
Noting that young people are the future and pillars of Hong Kong, Mr Chan said the Government will work closely with the YDC and give full play to its co-ordination role to draw the community together to attach importance to youth development.
“We will strive to effectively implement the youth development measures stated in the Policy Address and the Youth Development Blueprint, and set the stage for our younger generation to build their future."
