Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung today met film administration officials as well as Hong Kong and Mainland industry practitioners in Xiamen.

In the morning, Mr Yeung met China Film Association Sub-Party Secretary Zhang Hong, China Film Administration Deputy Director-General Bai Yimin, and Xiamen Film Administration Director General Shangguan Jun.

Apart from exploring opportunities for co-operation, Mr Yeung also briefed the officials on the Film Financing Scheme for Mainland Market set out in this year’s Policy Address.

The upcoming scheme aims to provide more opportunities to Hong Kong directors, enable them to have a better grasp of the Mainland market, enrich their horizons and experience as well as strengthen exchanges between the two places.

It is hoped that through the scheme, talented Hong Kong directors could bring more outstanding pieces to Mainland audiences and tell good stories.

Additionally, Mr Yeung met Hong Kong Film Development Council members and industry practitioners from Hong Kong and the Mainland to discuss further collaborations in driving the film industries in both places.

He departed for Dongguan this afternoon to continue his Mainland visit.
