The Housing Authority has stated that rents for 13,604 flats in the 14 blocks at four new public rental housing estates in Tuen Mun and Tung Chung have been set at the best levels in each district.

The best monthly rent in Tuen Mun, $63.1 per sq m, will apply to 1,020 flats in Moon Tin House, on Moon Tin Estate, and to 2,604 flats in Yip Sin House, Yip Tak House and Yip Tsz House, all of which are located on Yip Wong Estate.

In Tung Chung, the best monthly rent, $67.3 per sq m, will apply to 5,200 flats in Chun Choi House, Chun Wa House, Chun Wing House, Chun Kit House and Chun Sau House, which are all on Chun Tung Estate, and 4,780 flats in Cheung Yat House, Cheung Yuet House, Cheung Sing House, Cheung Fai House and Cheung Yiu House, all of which are located on Cheung Tung Estate.

The authority highlighted that the rents are heavily subsidised and are inclusive of rates, management fees and maintenance costs.

It added that those who are allocated a new flat but cannot afford the rent may request a refurbished flat at a lower rent or apply for help under the Rent Assistance Scheme.
