Storm signal downgraded
The Hong Kong Observatory has downgraded the storm signal from No. 8 to No. 3, as Typhoon Koinu moves away from the city.
The No. 8 Northeast Gale or Storm Signal, issued at 11.50pm yesterday, was replaced by the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 at 11.40am today.
The Hospital Authority said 29 people have sought medical treatment at public hospitals due to typhoon-related injuries.
During the storm, the Fire Services Department and the 1823 Government Call Centre received 25 reports and 19 reports of fallen trees respectively, while the Civil Engineering & Development Department received two reports of a landslide.
For its part, the Drainage Services Department confirmed seven flooding cases. Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Department opened 29 temporary shelters, at which 294 people sought refuge.
