Farming carnival marks National Day
Financial Secretary Paul Chan today officiated at the opening ceremony of the Happy Hong Kong: National Day Celebration Carnival at Yuen Long FarmKet.
Organised by the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department, the Fish Marketing Organization, the Vegetable Marketing Organization and Yuen Long FarmKet, the carnival features over 40 stalls selling a wide variety of local seasonal agricultural and fisheries products as well as gourmet food and handicrafts. Cooking demonstrations, stage performances, booth games and fun exhibitions are also offered for the public to enjoy the National Day holiday.
Mr Chan said today marks the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the whole nation is celebrating the joyous occasion. He wished the carnival great success and hoped visitors would return home satisfied, adding his good wishes for Hong Kong's peace and prosperity, and fishermen and farmers a good harvest.
The three-day carnival started yesterday and will run until October 2 at Long Ngai Path in Yuen Long. It is one of the activities held by the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department under the Happy Hong Kong - A & F Carnival to promote local agriculture and fisheries, and bring joy to the community.
