Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung today congratulated two Hong Kong athletes on winning a gold medal in the Rowing Men's Pair event at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou, the first gold won by the Hong Kong, China delegation at this year’s games.

Mr Yeung said in Hangzhou that Lam San-tung and Wong Wai-chun had given their best and shown the full extent of their talent.

“Having witnessed their triumph, I could feel (the) athletes’ concentration during competition and their joy after winning,” he said. “With the Hong Kong, China delegation getting off to a flying start, I wish Hong Kong athletes (can) continue to shine in the Hangzhou Asian Games.”

Mr Yeung also extended his congratulations to wushu athlete Chen Suijin on winning a bronze medal in the Women's Taijiquan & Taijijian All-Round event.

He said: "We are proud of her, who earned the well-deserved medal with excellent skills.”
