The Education Bureau (EDB) announced today the result of "Attained" in the Senior Secondary Citizenship & Social Development (CS) subject in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination will be accepted as meeting the entry requirements of relevant civil service grades.

The first HKDSE Examination for the subject will be administered in 2024 and the results will be reported either as "Attained" or "Unattained".

For appointment to civil service grades which require an entry requirement at Level 2 or equivalent in five subjects in the HKDSE Examination, the Civil Service Bureau also accepts "Attained" in the CS subject as meeting one of the five Level 2 requirements.

The EDB said the themes of the CS subject include Hong Kong under “'one country, two systems", Our Country since Reform & Opening-up and Interconnectedness & Interdependence of the Contemporary World. The subject’s Mainland study tours form part of the curriculum, but do not involve public assessment.
