Shanghai, Beijing to host hiring talks
The Civil Service Bureau has announced that it will hold roving recruitment talks in Shanghai and Beijing from today to introduce the work of different grades, as well as employment opportunities and recruitment processes.
As the first of their kind organised by the bureau in the two cities, the talks are aimed at encouraging more Hong Kong students studying at Mainland universities to join the civil service when they graduate.
The first talk, introducing the bureau’s Administrative Officer (AO) and Executive Officer (EO) grades, will be held this evening at the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Shanghai. Hong Kong residents studying or residing in the city who wish to apply for civil service posts can attend the talk in person or online.
Similar talks will be held at the Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in Beijing, as well as at the campuses of Peking University, Tsinghua University and Fudan University. Serving AOs and EOs who joined the Hong Kong SAR Government upon graduating from Mainland universities will return to their alma maters to share their experience and respond to participants’ questions.
In December, the Government will add Shanghai as an additional test centre for the Joint Recruitment Examination, the Common Recruitment Examination and the Basic Law & National Security Law Test.
The Government will launch its Joint Recruitment Exercise for the posts of AO, EOII, Assistant Labour Officer II, Assistant Trade Officer II, Management Services Officer II and Transport Officer II in mid-September.
Different departments or grades are also planning to conduct recruitment exercises later this year, while a number of grades conduct year-round recruitment, the bureau said.
It added that in order to attract people with aspirations to serve the community to join the civil service, 22 departments or grades have extended their eligibility criteria to cover students who are currently studying for a bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification and will graduate in 2025.
