Security chief leads BJ study tour
Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung today led members of the Security Bureau Youth Uniformed Group Leaders Forum as they began day two of their visit in Beijing to learn about the country’s history, culture and development in various fields.
In the morning, those taking part in the study tour watched the flag-raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square before proceeding to the Palace Museum to appreciate its precious artefacts and unique architecture.
In the afternoon, they toured the Yuanmingyuan Park to view relics including the Dashuifa at Haiyantang as well as its East-meets-West gardening landscape.
They learnt about the painful history of the foreign powers’ invasion and the destruction of the Summer Palace by fire, noting that a country has to give full play to the spirit of self-enhancement and struggle to be strong.
The group also visited Tsinghua University where they toured its campus and History Museum and received a briefing on the paths to further studies.
Mr Tang met CPC Tsinghua University Committee Secretary Prof Qiu Yong and called on the School of Public Policy & Management. He returned to Hong Kong this evening.
Yesterday, members of the study tour visited the Weibo Corporation’s headquarters to learn about the development of the social media and public opinion platform that has nearly 600 million users, as well as its situation in Hong Kong.
Additionally, they surveyed Sino Biopharmaceutical of the CP Group to understand more about their pharmaceutical research and innovation development.
Tomorrow, the study tour members will conclude their eight-day visit to Xi’an, Yan’an and Beijing by visiting the Beijing Police Dog Base to learn about police dog breeding and training work on the Mainland.
