Job fair for ethnic minorities set

The Labour Department will hold a job fair at MacPherson Stadium in Mong Kok on August 22 and 23 offering more than 4,300 vacancies, to enhance the employment opportunities of job seekers including those from ethnic minorities.

 

About 50 organisations will participate in the fair, with around half of them setting up booths and conducting on-the-spot recruitment each day.

 

The vacancies include: engineer, physiotherapist, accounts clerk, programme assistant, flight operations officer, bus captain, technician, restaurant manager, cook, barista, waiter or waitress, club officer, room attendant, sales assistant and spa therapist.

 

Around 82% of the vacancies at the fair are full-time jobs with monthly salaries ranging from $12,000 to $21,000.

 

Among the vacancies, about 97% require a Secondary 7 education level or below and about half are open to people without relevant work experience.

 

The Police Force and the Correctional Services Department will also set up counters.

 

The job fair will be held from 11am to 5.30pm with free admission, during which job seekers can submit applications and may be selected for on-the-spot interviews. On-site interpretation services in Hindi, Urdu and Nepali will be available.
