Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho led a Hong Kong delegation to Macau today to exchange views with local officials on housing policies, the overall planning of Macau and the progress of its public works.

Their agenda also included inspecting housing and urban development projects there.

While touring the New Urban Zone Area A’s economic housing exhibition area, the Hong Kong delegation met Macau’s Secretary for Transport & Public Works Raimundo Arrais do Rosário and representatives of the transport and public works sectors to learn about the five-tier system for housing provision of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government.

During the session, Ms Ho also discussed how Hong Kong enriches the housing ladder and increases housing supply.

In addition, Ms Ho visited the elderly housing exhibition area, and a temporary housing project by Macau Urban Renewal, where she shared experiences in building an age-friendly community and the opportunities and challenges in urban redevelopment.

Furthermore, she called on the social housing units in Toi San and economic housing units of Edifício do Bairro da Ilha Verde to view the ancillary facilities and understand residents’ everyday life.

Noting that each of the housing projects in Macau has a specific target, Ms Ho expressed hope that the visit will help strengthen the exchange in housing between Hong Kong and Macau to improve housing policies.

The housing chief returned to Hong Kong today.
