BL, NSL test acceptance streamlined
The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) has announced a new arrangement for the reciprocal acceptance of pass results in relation to the Basic Law & National Security Law Test (BLNST).
For all civil service recruitment exercises advertised today or after, any pass result, whether from a test conducted by the CSB, the Education Bureau (EDB) or various recruiting departments/grades, will be acceptable. Job applicants may use any pass result to apply for a civil service job, or for teaching posts in publicly funded schools or kindergartens participating in the Kindergarten Education Scheme.
The CSB said that as applicants will not be required to take similar tests repeatedly, the arrangement will ensure that job seekers have a basic understanding of the Basic Law and the National Security Law, while at the same time enhancing recruitment efficiency.
For all civil service recruitment exercises advertised on or after July 1, 2022, all applicants must have attained BLNST pass result to be considered for appointment.
Starting from the 2023/24 school year, this requirement also applies to all newly appointed teachers in public sector schools, Direct Subsidy Scheme schools and kindergartens under the Kindergarten Education Scheme.
